It’s amazing what a rainy night can teach you –
How the earth works with cold rain and breeze after the blistering heat,
The fun when you snuggle in with sisters, family or a lover and watch that movie you’ve seen a thousand times,
That ice cream tastes better somehow in the cold,
Your sudden ability to drive way below the speed limit on your way home
A reminder that you need new spectacles because there are few things more fear-inducing than blurry vision on a cold, cold night with rain-slicked roads to guide you home
That you still fear dark corners, and bends and shelters and the bogeyman you tell yourself does not exist.
It’s amazing what you learn.
